I believe that our unity is our strength, and I believe that leaders motivate and inspire those around them to collective action.
I am running for Vice President to build and strengthen the connections that teachers so desperately rely on right now, when things are so hard in the classrooms and the hallways.
I am running to use my loud and passionate voice to fight for what we all deserve, in the next contract and in the day-to-day struggles of our working lives.
I am running to be the strong ally that every teacher can count on, to offer protection, support, and representation when they need it.
I am running for the same reason that I became a teacher - because my life’s work is to build strong communities, whether in the rehearsal hall, the classroom, the union office, or on the picket line, if necessary.
We need member engagement now more than ever. We need genuine connections and to support one another in the face of an epidemic of school violence, crumbling infrastructure, our ever-expanding workload, and disrespect from above.
I will be a strong advocate for all teachers at the bargaining table, fighting to ensure that no departments or teachers get left behind. I will confidently represent and defend teachers with our employer, as I have at my school site for years. And I will be ready for the challenge of stepping into the role of President or Chief Negotiator/Grievance Officer if called upon to do so.
